Renting a Place for One Month

I am thinking of coming down from the states and looking for a place for one month.
Somewhere that is not to far from Punta Cana since my GF works there.

I want to get a flavor as to what it is like to live down there

The only problem with going to Punta Cana is that you won't get much of a flavour of real Dominican life. However, I know a lot of gringos like it there. EASTSIDE, as someone has said.

Rent in Higuey. Lots of Dominican flavor and she probably lives there, too. Many workers in PC live in Higuey.

Good platform that predates Airbnb. Not sure why Airbnb took off it seems and surpassed VRBO? Catchy name and lots of seed capital, advertising?

Probably Higuey. He should get a nice place in Bavaro close to where she works so then she can pop over after work. Take a shower enjoy the air conditioning.

Where does she live?

She lives in 2 towns. I know, you are probably saying Que significa eso?
Let me explain. She has a "house" in Romana where her 2 children 16 and 13 live. She has a cousin who has a house in Veron.
She works in Cap Cana at a resort. 12 days on and 3 days off.

Since Romana is too far from CC, she stays at her cousin's house for the 12 days she is working. When she has her 3 free days she travels to Romana and is with her children. On the evening of the 3rd free day she travels back to her cousin's house to prepare for work the next morning.

This is a pretty miserable existence for her and los ninos. It makes me very sad. She is lonely and misses her children and has to work for 12000 pesos monthly.
She never takes a sick day off from work even when she is sick. I have offered to pay her what she would lose in income but she still shows up for work every day at 6:45. Her resilience is awe inspiring.

You know the general rule doesn't apply to everybody. It just so happens that when I asked her to look for places a while back she came up with some very barato properties. As a matter of fact I asked her to step it up because I require AC or I die.

The math doesn't work. Min wage is 900 pesos. 900*24 = 21600 pesos.

I don't know about Higuey, but I've heard La Romana isn't all that safe of a town either.

yes i do know... the 15 and the 30. She gets 6000 on each... If you do your research you will find that certain jobs in the hotel industry are exempt from the minimum wage. My GF gets 6000 on the 15 and 6000 on the 30. I have seen her account and seen how she charges
