In near the future, I plan to travel to some of the resorts in Bayahibe, Punta Cana, and Las Terrenas with my Dominican girlfriend. Nevertheless, she has a baby and we need someone to watch her son.

We would most likely bring her younger sister (who is 12) to babysit; however, I'm concerned that we may encounter problems at the major resorts in Bayahibe, Punta Cana, and Las Terrenas.

Does anyone know if the major resorts (i.e. Hilton) prohibit minors to stay with "western" tourists? Should arrangements be made in advance? Can minors stay in an adjacent, but separate room?

BTW: My girlfriend, who is not a minor and has a cedula, looks younger than her age. Does anyone know if this will further complicate the babysitting issue?

Thanks,
Helpmann :)

????

Your question is not really clear to me,, but in any case, back in 2001 we were in Punta Cana at the Melia Carib Tropical, our kids were 13 and 10, we had two bedrooms, they were across from each other,,,, we had ONE rule with the kids,, WE MUST HAVE DINNER TOGETHER after that I was sunbathing all day and my husband golfing while the kids had their days busy with all the children activities.

We would get up and go for breakfast,, I would check up on their room to see them sleeping, then they would get up and come to see me by the pool ask me for permision to go get water sport equipment but I never had an issue with the hotel. Only once, one of the animation people came over to ask me if it was OK for them to go on the banana boat, I signed and off they went.

The same experience we had at the Coral on Bayahibe he Summer of 2003 after the baby was born. I really don't get why your "children" would be treated in a different way.
