Can someone please comment on Riu Merengue. I'll be going to DR next Sept 27th and would like very much to know all I can about this resort.

By the way, I'm on a budget like many of us and would like to spend my dollars wisely (yes, I'm cheap).

We went to Riu Merenguez this past April and had a fabulous time. The place if very beautiful, food was fantastic and the hospitality was first rate. No need to bring extra money unless you would like to do some of the extra activities off the resort.

I stayed in Riu Mambo last year which is next door they are both really nice hotels and the staff are really friendly it was that good I am going back this year!!. You'll have a great time. Last year there was a free bus into Puerto Plata which was really good as you only need to pay for a taxi to come back to the hotel.
