How much can a hospital charge before admitting a patient with DR insurance
This questions has come up with several friends lately.

Seems you must have a someone sign for responsibility for you as well
But I have heard of hospitals demanding as much as 100,000 pesos for admittance even though the person has full DR health insurance

Seems that is not legal ? And what if you are on death's door ?
Health care here, as elsewhere, has become questionable as to what they are really interested in doing.
It does not seem they are concerned for patients, but in maximizing revenue.

less than 2000 U.S for entry into a hospital, sounds reasonable to me, especially for trauma treatment. Plus think of all the miles you get on your CC

We have never had any experiences with our health insurance customers not being admitted to hospitals unless
1. The people have really poor insurance with low policy coverage .. Some hospitals do not take low policies because their coverage will run out in a couple of days. In my opinion people should have minimum of 800,000 peso coverage.
We never offer low coverage policies as it is irresponsible. Health Insurance should really be considered as life insurance in this country.

2. The secretary pretends that the insurnce is anactive. in order to pocket the cash . In this case the customer calls us , we quickly check with the insurere to confirm that it is good and call the secretary back to tell her she is mistaken. They they get admitted.
3 the hospital does not take any insurance

Make sure you have a good policy

About 6-8 months ago at Cedimat charged a 100,000 pesos deposit on CC. Did not know the law even then I would not of wanted to wait for insurance and Cedimat to work this out for admission. After 4-5 day hospital stay (nice room/suite and very good
medical care) insurance Humano plan Max paid like 90% and a bit more. Cedimat took 15 days to reimburse CC. Points on credit card were remove when reimburse.

Proposed new tax to stop the charging of admission deposits. Seem cumbersome.
