not sure how romantic this drink is but it was quite original [to me at least] and i have been hooked on it ever since.
get a small bottle of Brugal [i believe the term is Chatica?], get yourself one sleeve of powdered juice mix [think kool aid] preferably fruit punch [red color].
be sure to pour out about 2 oz. of brugal out [put it in a cup] and pour the contents of the powder into the chatica. shake the bottle well, you will notice it turn a DEEP RED as the mix is heavily concentrated with the rum.
Now get yourself some glasses and some ice and you have instant super sweet brugal, goes down just fine, drink a whole chatica on your own and you will be feeling it!

IMO you can't beat a good bottle of vino for situations like this. Lately, I've been drinking a lot of Chilean.
Just enough alcohol content to lower the inhibitions without getting drunk. Unless you are trying to get drunk. In that case I recommend Screwdrivers made with Absolut Peppar.

If you wanna get nice, and I mean REAL nice, do like ex-Washington mayor Marion Barry-order a bottle of Baileys' Irish Cream(serve chilled) for the ladies, and as for me I'll gets down with some Amaretto with sour mix, served on ice.
The reason I love Amaretto Sour is you can sip it all night long and not get a hang-over the next night, and its' a very pleasant tasting drink.

Next time I go to the DR I'm taking some Amaretto on the plane with me-I figure why waste time.
