Hi Greg, the "Villas Los Corales" is on Bavaro beach in the "Cortesito village" area. The hotels that are located nearby are: to the right of the resort is the new "Melia Tropical" resort & to the left about 1/2 mile up the beach is the "Carabella hotel" & "Hodelpa Bavaro". This area is a little less animated than the areas surrounding the "Barcelo Bavaro resorts", which are of walking distance (to the right) if you like to walk the beach for a mile or so. But mainly its the same beautiful stretch of Bavaro beach which goes on for some 40km!! Concerning the Villas, we have just returned from Punta Cana, stayed 3 weeks, 1 week at the "Los Corales"(rented it ourselves & to my surprise saw the RCI international distinction plaque at check in), and 2 weeks (through RCI) at the "Melia vacation Club" which is actually in the "Paradisus" all inclusive resort (best RCI in the area). Both were great! The "Villas" are an ensemble of 20 mediterranean style villas with either 1 or 2 bedrooms. The villas are all 2 story buildings, we had an ocean front 1 bedroom villa #22 on the 2nd floor. It was literally on the sand!! The unit has 2 oc/front balconies, living/dining room area with 2 sofas, tv, a kitchenette (4 burner range, mini fridge, cooking utensils, plates & silverware), a seperate bedroom with queen bed & french doors leading to a smaller balcony, the room had ample closet space with a security safe, a seperate full bathroom, including wall mounted hair dryer. The 2nd floor units also include a private rooftop terrace complete with a bathtub for a cool dip while sunbathing!! Daily maid service was provided. Guest services include: front desk service, beach & pool towels /lounge chairs, a travel desk, $ baby sitter service on request, $ laundry service, $ restaurant & pizzeria, $ beach bar. The pool is of good size & includes a jacuzzi, nicely landscaped grounds with tropical gardens surround the resort. There is a game room/ pool table/ tv video room (large screen), mini (mini) gym. The resort had an optional all inclusive plan, but we did not take it, since we were going to the all incl. "Paradisus" for the following 2 weeks. I must advise you the Punta Cana/ Bavaro area has no fully stocked grocery stores!! You will not find any fresh produce in the area, only canned goods, rum & beer, soda etc... The closest complete grocery is in Higuey a 45 min. drive away... Please keep this in mind, either take the all inclusive (Paradisus was 5* all the way) or bring food from home!! We truly enjoyed our stay at the "Los Corales" because we knew ahead of time of the rarety of purchasing food. There are a few good resto's in the area (to the left) "Capt' Cook" & the "hurricane cafe". Bavaro caters mainly to all inclusive resorts, the locals that work at the resorts have room & board included in their (low) salaries, they live mostly in Higuey & Santo Domingo, so there is no need for them to buy groceries in Punta Cana, therefore making it hard to stock fresh produce for the occasional tourist to buy in these small convenient stores. If I can be of further help, don't hesitate to e-mail me directly. Happy trails!
