"Jerzy",thank you for your service. There seem to be quite a few "American/Dominicans" serving their country in the military.
There are more than a few "VETS" here on DR1.
We have,"Been There,Done That",all over the globe.
From those who "KNOW",we salute you,and all the others who don't complane, but serve!
Cris Colon

As Cris said ... we salute you!

Hello, I'm from Czech Republic and I read in several news... all US Army already left Afghanistan, so.. you're inhabitant of Afghanistan?

That's false. There are still US troops in Afghanistan and will be for a while, the troops are leaving Iraq. My son, a specialist just came home a few weeks ago from Kandelhar(spelling). He never wants to return.

Feliz Navidad and take care of yourself out there. I concur with the care package. I'm sure by now you could use some good old Salami Induveca and a couple of Presidentes haha.

My apologies for upsetting a few folks. Of course Afghanistan is difficult. Viet Nam was tough, and Irag too. When we get started in Iran it will be just as bad, but we have several contenders for president that are shaking their sabers that direction.
I have respect for all those who have served in any of these and all the other military campaigns the US have been in.

Perhaps if you engaged your brain before engaging fingers you'd have less of a problem. I know you are 65 years old but you come off as ill-informed on current events.

Thank you to everybody and a little about me. My mother's side of the family is from D.R and my father's side is from Cuba. On my Dominican side, most are from the Santiago area, I have only been there once as a kid. I am from Newark, NJ and half of my life in Bronx, NY. Currently stationed out of Ft. Bliss, TX., MOS is 19D, Cavalry Scout, I am at Fob Shank, Afghanistan, 4th deployment, after this I'm done, my 2 kids deserve me home.. Thanks again!

Good to hear you're not going back and yes your children do need you home so stay safe, cut down on the drinking (because almost everybody does, lol), and get home quickly!

Please remember this Tony, Patron is a stone cold liar!!!

Correct spelling is Kandahar and yes it does suck. I don't blame your son for not wanting to return to that place. I hate that place more then any other place in Afghanistan. I hope he gets to sit home until the war is over and I wouldn't wish Kandahar on my worse enemy.

I was at a FOB close to Shank. I prefer that part of the country over the South. Send me your email address in a pm.
