I was at Santo Domingo Motors yesterday arranging to pick up a new car when a "group" arrived that seemed to stop the world. In front of the group walking backwards 3 cameramen filming the executives and his entourage walking into the showroom I was in. The size of this staff was very impressive to say the least. My only comparison would be, similar to a visa from Luis.
Top executives in suits (3), 4-5 lower executives ,no jackets, 3 women dressed for work, about 5-6 others that I'm not sure what they were doing.
The top gun was filmed every minute of the visit. Opening closing car doors, talking with the other executives, so on and so forth.
High level and very impressive.
I suspect SD Motors is one of the top corporations here in the DR.

Based upon the brands they sell, I would think they are way behind the Toyota, Hyundai and Kia dealers in the DR:

I called them today to schedule an appointment for my truck to be checked out. Their response? Nothing older than 2 yrs. goes into the shop.
They gave me the name of an authorized dealer I can contact: Auto Asesores.

Not far from the truth. They also have no hassle negotiating. They give you a price-take it or leave it. Very cut and dried.

I have a new car, the warranty calls for oil changes every 5,000km.

BUT - I MUST take it to an authorized service center.... nothing local
The change has to be reg'd on the VIN to protect the warranty.....

2hrs each way - first come=first served

I send a driver...........

Santo Domingo Motors is definitely cut and dry. They do not go and seek business as some other dealers do. They hope to do sales based on their reputation and longevity in the business. They want to be known as one of the "elite" car dealerships (they would prefer to be known as the only elite one). Yes, we have bought cars (2) from them. Honestly, we had a good experience with them.

It's been some time but I was very familiar with most of these dealers. The family that owns the Kia franchise also own (or owned) Ford Lincoln Mercury, Mazda and Jaguar. I think I saw a Chinese brand on the lot the last time I passed so they may have added another franchise.

They are the sole importers of all new Nissan, Infinity, Isuzu, Chevrolet, etc in the country. This include all the 0 KM of all those brands sold by other dealers countrywide. They also are the main importer of Nissan, etc in Puerto Rico. They basically get a cut from every new Nissan, Suzuki, etc sold in the DR and Puerto Rico, whether it's through their dealerships or through a third party.
