Hi everyone,

I am a new member to this website. My husband and I are traveling to Santo Domingo from US east coast next week. It will be our first time in DR but hopefully not the last time. We plan to spend one day in Santo Domingo and then head to Las Galeras for a couple days. I have contacted my hotel in Santo Domingo regarding the transportation and they said they could arrange a private taxi for us for US $150 one-way or US $300 for the round trip. However, we would like to save some money and take public transportation instead. Even a shared transportation like a minivan would be fine.

I have tried to check multiple websites for bus companies like Caribe and Asotrapusa, posted on Trip Advisor but haven't gotten any helpful information on the schedules as well as where to take the bus from in Santo Domingo and where does the bus drop off in Las Galeras.

Are there any other transportation providers other than Caribe/Asotrapusa that could take us to Las Galeras? Maybe another company that charges more is also fine as long as we can reach our destination. If so, could you please let me know? Do I need to call the two providers I listed for more information on the schedule/drop-off points?

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Could you not just take Asotrapusa to Samana and then a guagua the rest of the way north? I'm assuming that there are guaguas that go there. It's only about 50 km.
That would work if you get to Samana direct from SD the rest is easy. I was not aware of a bus from SD direct....................

That price on a private taxi sounds good. Any other way would be a hassle. You are on vacation.................
You are right. I just read somewhere that the bus is comfortable and doesn't take much longer than a private taxi so I was trying to save some $$. My hotel said they can arrange a taxi the same day so that is my backup plan.

From what I am looking at, their website is quite outdated. I found this schedule: https://www.facebook.com/asotrapusa...esde-santo-domingo-a-samana/2594971934161348/ but cannot figure out what the pick up and drop off locations are exactly.
I know there is a station adjacent to Caribe Tours Las Americas. There is also a station very close to Parque Enriquillo in the capital. Search on Google maps for Terminal asotrapusa on Calle Barahona. One of those 2 should be close for you.
