Like Brandigirl posted in her 3/;27/06 message, I also am leaving for a 10 day vacation to Punta Cana on April 20th, and I have seen nothing but rain on the forecast, and I am freaking out!! Anyone out there know what it is really like down there? If you are out there Brandigirl, let me know how it went, and if the forecasts are true or not!! Thanks....I am really looking forward to spending some time in the sun!

Dont worry too much...usualy when they predict rain it might last maybe 10 mins (thats my experience). I have also noticed that partly cloudy usualy means its cloudy in the morning but then it burns off.

I have also noticed that in the south...things start off cloudy...and that by late morning the clouds hang inland.

Hope things work out for you!!! (heh...bring a game of scabble just in case)

Don't freak out. There may be some short rain showers each day, usually early morning or late afternoon. We even have overcast. However, the vast amount of Sunshine we have going for us will far outweigh the rain happenings.

You may obtain more accurate on site information every day regarding the Punta Cana weather from DR1's Weather & Beyond page from this observer, PJT. It is much better than a canned report done by computer modeling from a site that is nowhere near here. .....They just don't have someone nearby to look up into the heavens.

DR1's Weather & Beyond site.

Come and enjoy the Sun in Punta Cana.

PJT

Rain

Hi Jodipgirl,

Just got back from Punta Cana. Before I left, the forecast said rain and T storms every day. Glad to report that the weather was perfect. Rained only once during the day on Sat. Other than that, we could not have asked for better weather. Do not believe the forecast. As you know I was quite relunctant to go because of what I saw for weather as well. Go, and have a great time. One of the best vacations we've taken.

Brandiegirl,
Hi and welcome to DR1. Glad to hear that your vacation was a success. Any possibility you could give a report in the Trip Report Forum and tell where you stayed, how the service and food was, where you visited and any other general information that made your vacation "one of the best" you've ever taken?

Hi Rick,

I'd be happy to post. Where is this Trip Forum? How do I get into it. Can you tell I'm not too computer literate, LOL

Sure no problem. Trips Forum is 3 lines up from this forum on the main Forums page. At the top of this page on the upper left you will see
DR1 Forums > Travel > Weather and Beyond

Just click on DR1 Forums and when you get to the forums page click on Trip Reports Forum in the left column. When you get to that page you will see the different threads in that forum but you want to creat a new thread which you will see in the upper left hand side. Click on New Thread and when you get there fill in the title then type your report. When done scroll further down and hit submit new thread.

Hi, Rick-
Have YOU noticed that new posters are being greeted and informed in a little more courtly and intelligent fashion lately?

Although I'm sure there was no problem at all beforehand, it does seem just a little more mature and inviting territory than it did last week.

Maybe I'll submit a Trip Report on my next El Seibo visit. Hee, hee... .

badpiece, are you joking? I question the meteorologist that you say you've spoken to. Weather forecasts 10 and more days into the future has only a scant probability of accuracy, and a much bigger probablility that it is just plain wrong.

For the next few days, we'll see the pattern of scattered showers and thunderstorms continue and this will ease off by the weekend. After that, we are expecting fair weather as best as anyone can say. It is just not possible to say with any level of accuracy what is going to happen weatherwise further into the future. Our weather is variable at this time of year.

jodipgirl77, as suggested earlier in this thread, PJT is the 'man on the spot' in that area and I suggest you watch what he says on the thread http://www.dr1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34529

Enjoy your vacation!

Now I am officially freaked....

I appreciate everyone's support on saying the weather should be great, especailly ou Brandigirl (I am happy you had a great time - that is awesome!) But the one that really got me was 'badpieces' comment...about the meteorologist saying it was going to rain straight thru from April 20th (the day I am leaving) until May 1st (the day I come back!)....please tell me this is some kind of cruel prank??? :surprised

Ai, there is no constant rain. It rains every day, for a little bit... every day of the year more or less it does this. It does not rain for days and days. We had a rainy spell for a few days, and this is now over.

;) I am so excited as well, two hours left of work here, then it is home to finish my packing, and the flight is early tomorrow am!! I can't wait, the weather forecasts are still making me nervous, but I am trying not to stress, and putting faith in the good people that have responded to this blog, who have said that a quick shower a day is about all we will get....maybe I'll see you there moomoo!!!
