Was wondering with all the people heading to the beach is it a good time to visit Santo Domingo for shopping i.e Ikea, hotel deals, museums, botanical gardens etc. What happens in Santo Domingo for Semana?
Visiting Santo Domingo Semana Santa is good if you want a city void of noise and traffic. It is not good, if you want to visit museums, historic sites or shop.
Most places will close around Noon today and might not reopen until Monday.
You might find some good restaurant specials though, as businesses try and attract any stragglers that have stayed behind.
In general, probably not the best time for a visitor, but a great time for a resident.
