shots for travel to Dominican Republic

I was planning a trip to the Dominican Republic and wanted to know if any special shots are required or recommended?

No shots are required. Ask your doctor about whether you have had a tetanus shot in the last 10 years. Some people bring antibiotics as a precaution but in 10 years of vacations in the DR, I can't see the need for that. Don't forget the Imodium. We usually don't need it, but just in case, you should have it. Hope you have a great time!!

My husband and I are going next week and we were advised to update our tetanus and will be taking oral typhoid boosters as a precaution, although the doctor indicated that was optional and wouldn't hurt. We also have a prescription for an antibiotic -- just in case. Have fun!
