I'm with you CC. If I ever were to contemplate skydiving [highly unlikely because my knees go weak from heights], I'd want the school that has never had an accident - ever. Something about imagining a Dominican making 6,000 pesos a month packing my chute.....

Ay, Ay, Ay.

Good luck anfa... Do you have a good life insurance policy and if so can I be named as the beneficiary...? Just kidding. AlterEgo is spot on... Learn this from the best company you can find and pack your own chute when you come here or at least watch the preparation for it. Just like my dive gear, you life is in the gears hands and the quality of the preparation and maintenance. Enjoy your adventure!

I wouldn't care if they were being paid 60 THOUSAND pesos a month, it's the "Dominican" part that terrifies ME!!!!

I teach AFF for the FAD at San Isidro 2 weeks a year. But it is only for the Military. If you have a D license I can get you in, as we have a boogie every February. But no students except for DR Air Force.

I am a CSPA SSE, SSI, EJR, Coach 1, Coach 2, Ia, Ib, Rigger a, Strong Tandem master, Instructor. (Among many other things....) Sad to say there is little here in that regards to continue your career/education...

There is "some" experience diving here in February with the military... last civilian Dropzone here was a dozen years ago...

Perhaps SCUBA? as a PADI scuba instructor, OWSI, IDC Staff, instructor we can still do something instead?...

I jumped in San Isidro with a group of international jumpers for the 50th anniversary of the FAD. We stayed on base for a few days. That was a great time. Not sure if that was you that put it together or not.

It was put together by the FAD. We have it every year in February. If you want to participate this February let me know.

It would be awesome to do it again. However I sold all my gear a couple of years back. Maybe not for 2015, but if I can get back into it next year I'll try for 2016. :)

Hmmmm... I've got a packed military parachute I've been lugging around for the last ten years or so. It got wet once, but seemed to dry out OK without even unpacking it!!

I wonder how hard it would be to base jump off the highest building in Santo Domingo, the Silver Sun Mall??

With a round chute? Ever try landing a round chute in the wind on a city street. If it did open in time, the landing might kill you.

They have Paragliding there. Not Skydiving, as there is no airport there. The difference is in Skydiving you jump from a plane. In Paragliding you jump off a mountain with a canopy already open, at least you hope it is open.
