Is anyone a member of Smart Fit? If so, I would welcome any and all opinions and experiences. They are more than double what I'm paying now at my gym especially when you add the $200 DOP guagua round trip, but it seems like they have so much more and their hours are a bit more friendly. Thanks for the help.

I went to one when I was in Piantini a few month ago. It was like being in a gym back in Canada. All the equipment was clean and worked, many treadmills and other freaky cardio stuff. Isn't the monthly fee only 1100 pesos?

It's 1190/1490. I'm not sure of the difference but I would think it's like Planet Fitness, where the higher fee means you can use any facility and the lesser fee means you're stuck at one only. Given that there's 2 in SDEste, I would opt for the 1490. Plus there's a 1500 peso inscription.

I just checked the link in CR's post above and you also get a t shirt with the higher priced plan.

The 1490 price gives you access to all the facilities in Latin America. You're lucky to have such nice gyms in the capital at affordable prices. Here in Sosua/Cabarete our gyms start at 800 per month and it's a dump. Average price is 3500 per month and the nicest gym is 7500 per month (Ocean Village). It's more than any gym back in North American. You'll love Smart Fit. Give it a try!

By the way, I'm paying 50 pesos/day and going 3 days a week now. That's why I think it would be more than double. Problem is it has only 3 treadmills and 2 don't work.

They tend to be on the same building of Bravo but with an independent entrance or across the street from one. The reason? All Smart Fit in the DR are owned by the Monestina family, which is the founder of Bravo. One of the family members was quoted a few years ago saying "the Dominican Republic is a land of opportunity." Of course, when many members immigrated from Spain they weren't what they are now, millionaires. The DR allowed to become one of the bunch based on their hardwork and seeing things different from most.
