I have been reading that it can snow up in the mountains, really, anyone ever witnessed this? Although the highest peak is surprisingly high for here, it isn't that high.

It's hard to imagine with the heat we have in Santo Domingo at the moment, the last few days have been scorching.

Pico Duarte is 3098 meters or a little over 10,000ft! not that high???
Tallest peak in the caribbean islands. I would think under the right weather combinations, snow has seen it's peak more than once.

listen man, it is snowing in Dallas Tx, Atlanta and Florida AND I MEANS SERIOUS INCHES. 1 foot in ATL????????????????? Last year it was snowing in Phoenix Arizona. So I think it can snow in DR and I d love to see it. EXCEPT FOR ALL THE MACHOS ON THE MOTOS WHO THINK THEY COULD HANDLE IT AND WIND UP DRIVING OFF A CLIFF OR SOMETHING. And the women who would still be outside in open toed high heel shoes and tight jeans slip sliding all the way down Avenida Francia. Hahahaha!
And then the epidemic of runny noses that would overtake the island. Oh and those too poor to have blankets, long sleeves shirts or pants or sueters.
But why couldnt it happen? Apparently the snow belt is making its way further south every year

My wife who has lived most of her life in Jarabacoa, and her mother whom has lived all her life except the last five in Jarabacoa, tell me that THEY have never seen ice or snow in Jarabacoa. We have almost no snow here in Belleville, but we've been below zero every day for the past 2 months.

Snow on Pico Duarte

While it is true that Pico Duarte will never be a snow-capped mountain...I am confident that there may have been a couple of flurries or dusting, although a rare occurrence, at those times when the temperature in the country has dipped significantly due to a cold snap from the north. If there is frost, there can be snow...once the temperature reaches 0 celsius or below...the right conditions exist....and these do happen even in Valle Nuevo almost every winter!
