Can anyone advise me on a decent hotel in the Sosua area near the beach, with a pool airconditioning and a decent price for two families in August.
Thanks

IF YOU WANT AN ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT YOU WILL FIND THAT THE HOTELS ARE SITUATED ABOUT 10 MINS FROM SOSUA. ONE I CAN RECOMMEND IS LTI SOL DE PLATA. 4* ALL INCLUSIVE LOTS GOING ON VERY FAMILY ORIENTATED. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SMALLER HOTEL OR AN APARTMENT IN THE CENTRE OF SOSUA THE ONLY ONE WHICH SPINGS TO MIND IS EL COCA HOTEL. SMALL BUT CLEAN ABOUT 10 MINS WALK FROM SOUSA BEACH. SMALL POOL AND BREAKFAST AREA ABOUT $40.00USD PER ROOM PER NIGHT.. THEY ALSO HAVE APARTMENTS AVAILABLE BUT IM NOT SURE OF THE PRICE. HOPE THIS HELPS REGARDS LEEONA

We just returned from 12 day at Sosua By The Sea hotel and can't speak highly enough about it.

Great location, excellent rooms and we were able to get it for $60 a night including taxes and breakfast.

It was our second stay there (first time was 4 years ago) and was even better than we remembered.

They also offer all inclusive for $20 per person per day if you want it.

Good luck!.

I am not an expert on Sosua but you can

find a lot in www.debbiesdominicantravel.com
Also lets see if Eddy or one of the folks from up that way can chime in here ans give you better info. Grahame or Sofy for example...

The names Sosua bythe Sea and Casa marina come to mind and Tropix is very inexpensive and family oriented. I have found that the places at Playa Dorada are very good buys in August. Gran Ventana. Club Dorado, Playa Naco are all nice places and I have seen lots of families there, In fact i will be there in august with me and mine...Aug 5-11 at Club Dorado...just like the past 15 years...

Many families enjoy Hotel Tropix. It's a small hotel about a 5-10 minute walk from Sosua Beach. There is a pool, generator, honor bar, fridge in every room. The grounds are beautiful, the staff courteous. Sylvie Papernik, the owner was born in Sosua of refugee parents. She speaks English, German, Spanish and Dutch, knows the area intimately and is highly regarded in Sosua. You can phone her direct for more info and rates (809) 571-2291 or check her web page below.

Very, very slow in Sosua at present. The hotels and restaurants are hurting. It would be worth trying to negotiate a rate. When you contact a hotel, offer them a price below their quote. It is very slow now, and August will not be any better. Take advantage of it; the people who are booking rooms for the various package tour companies certainly are. I had one rep tell me that the hotels were almost ready to pay her to have their clients sent. Not quite that bad, but you'll pay more than you should if you don't try to bargain.
