For some of you this may be a fun way to start your Saturday.

Understanding and being able to use idioms or expressions is a vital part of language learning but you go from level to level. Some are universal expressions and some are more regional or local. This is true in Spanish and English and surely in other languages.

Here is a short quiz I found of common idioms/ expressions in Spanish.

I got 10/12....the comment at the end of quiz was ¡Un auténtico español!

The two I didn’t know were more regional in my experience.

Here is a nice short list of popular idioms.

#7 and #8 are new ones for me. I had never heard those expressions until now when I read the list.

I got two wrong (4 and 6) but it gives me a score of 9/12. Most of the expressions are more common in Spain.

Okay I think there is something wrong with the scoring because it shows me the one I got wrong but my score is 10/12 it should be 11/12....so adjust your score.

Yes, I thought the expressions were more universal but not necessarily Spain. The one I got wrong I think is an expression heard more in Spain #5.
