Hola amigos,
We, my family and I, are looking to improve our Spanish at a language institute in Santo Domingo. In another forum, the The Dominico Americano or The Language School was recommended. I wanted to hear from others about this school or perhaps if there is another one that you would suggest to look in to.
Muchas gracias.
Susan

UNAPEC also has good Spanish language programs. See UNAPEC - Escuela de Idiomas

See classes schedule at http://idiomas.unapec.edu.do/Content/Documentos/Misc/Horario Otros Idiomas (2014-4).pdf

Again, for learning a language total immersion is better than a language school.

AFS has programs in Spain and several Latin American countries. While they do not list the Dominican Republic on their list of countries, calling AFS Dominicana I was told that you can request Dominican Republic to AFS USA and they will most likely approve for the student to travel to the DR for the student exchange. On the form the student should be clear about what activities are most important to learn. I believe there is no better language program than total immersion with a student exchange program. The advantage of AFS is that the student is placed in a regular school where they will find themselves obliged to learn and speak the language fast. See http://afsusa.org

Cabarete Language Institute
Learn Spanish in the Dominican Republic
Seems like a fun option because it is Cabarete, the water sports capital. Learn to windsurf, surf, or sail while learning Spanish.

If language instruction is the most important, recommend you choose a school that is relatively near the place of residence. This especially applies to Santo Domingo, where traffic at peak hours can be unforgiving.
