In my husband's family most of the boys play organized baseball at some time or another. If they are very good they play until age 16-18, whatever the cut off age is to get in the major leagues. They often take 'vitaminas' by injection which I am sure contain steroids but they call it vitamins.

I can't read the article because you have to log in to do so. However, it's an interesting subject for me, as my friend's 12 year old son's baseball coach has suggested that he has some kind of injection and "vitamins". Although I want the boy to do well, I'm concerned about it and am waiting for my friend, who is a baseball coach in the USA, to come and see him before we do anything like this.

There are Dominicans in the gym that take steroids to get big. Their backs and chests are covered in steroid acne.
The price to pay for these drugs is long term (unless you count the acne).

When they begin to see thier bodies breakdown, they they will experience increased likelihood of infections, higher blood pressure, artery breakdown, skin thinning, ulcers and bone thinning.
Nothing in life is free.

Tatis's father played back in the era when the "vitamina injections" were the norm. Cano and Mejia were caught more than once. It only takes one person to tell some of these guys that these "injections" will take you straight to the top of your career, that they are "harmless"/undetectable". All their common sense leaves them never thinking about the consequences.

That is why so many professional wrestlers die young.

I spoke to my baseball USA coach friend and he said "No, no, no!" to these injections. He said that if the boy needs vitamins he should eat more fruit!
