Anyone know if there is a direct bus from STI to Puerto Plata City, or must I go to the Caribe Station in Santiago for a bus. Thanks in advance.

Taxi to Caribe or Metro is your only option unless you've packed super light and don't mind walking down
to Autopista Duarte and catching the PA publico into town.
I get the PA car from STI to Santiago then get Javilla Tours or Caribe to Puerto Plata. Cost - 60 pesos for the car. Prices have gone up so I don't know for Caribe.
Best move you can make is to share a ride with another single dude traveling to POP or Sosua , same direction.. Its easy to spot single travelers on the plane .
The taxi driver does not need to know you are sharing the fare.. tell him you travel together, and you should get the same price .. $90- $95 should cover it
But if you bring a third person that person will also pay $45 though.. they wont do 3 or 4 for same price ..

I've taken an UBER from STI to Sosua a few times. Much cheaper then $100.....about $50 -$60
