Sunwing - Toronto to Puerto Plata

Just thought I'd offer some info regarding my experience with Sunwing as I just returned from Puerto Plata today. I will DEFINITELY be trying to book with Sunwing for future travel. Their flight was very comfortable. I had my carry on bag under the seat in front of me and was not hurting for leg room. The food was decent (and definitely plentiful).

The only downfall was that the flight down had to swing by Punta Cana prior to Puerto Plata. In Punta Cana we were told we had to disembark. The problem was that there was very little explanation given. There was just an announcement that we needed to get off. They gave us a yellow card, but did not tell us what that was for. It was a little unnerving!

Other than that, it was SOOOOO much better than Skyservice!

I booked Sunwing direct from Toronto to Puerto Plata on the 18th. This Tuesday I got a call with them changing it to stopping to Montego Bay Jamaica. Not exactly what I had in mind, so I'm not very happy with SunWing myself right now.

Didn't realize how tired I am and how I shouldn't jump into typing something and pressing submit without rereading it.

Why did they get us to disembark? I don't know. They just did. I only wish a little more direction was given as to where we were to go . . . what to do with the yellow piece of paper etc. We were just wandering aimlessly around the Punta Cana airport. In hindsight, I should have just beelined it to the bar for a beer!

It was probably a scheduled stop to let some people off and pick some up before doing the same in Puerto Plata and then heading home.
Outside of peak seasons, it is quite common having a stop in Punta Cana either on the way down or on the way back.
The card is so you can get back to the plane.

A couple years ago on my way to Punta Cana we made a stop in St.Marteens than Puerto Plata than Santo Domingo... it ended up being a 10 hour flight cause we had to get off twice... all with Sunwing, and we were told all this when we got to the airport...
