surfing in the dominican republic

I am coming to the Dominican later in October and have heard there is surf on the north side of the island. Is there a place to rent a board or should I bring my board with me? Any advice on surfing in the Dominican would be appreciated.

Great surf here. You picked the right month too. I suggest bringing your board with you, but you may be able to find rentals in Cabarete too. The best north coast waves are near Cabarete, Puerto Plata, and Playa Bonita.
