Swimming w/Dolphins in D.R.

Is there a location in the Dominican Republic that offers swimming with Dolphins. I had heard there was in the southeast portion of the D.R. Any info. would be helpful or prices would be great?

you can swim with the dolphins in a Park in Bavaro, on the east coast of the island. The park is called " Manati Park". Its 100 dollars a person

Manatee Park charges US$40 to swim with the dolphins. You should book this with at least a week in advance. Also, you need to pay the admission fee to the Park which was US$20. Double check when you arrive (brochures at all Punta Cana hotels), in case these prices have increased slightly.

The above posting by DR1 is more accurate to the price, although I do not feel it is worth it. It is for only 15 minutes, and approximately 10 of those minutes are used taking pictures in specific poses that the employess make you take. Then for the last 5 minutes you are allowed to 'swim' with the dolphins. It is an incredubly small tank that these poor dolphins are kept in, and so I felt very sorry for them and could not really enjoy it. Also, of course there is no way to force the dolphin to come near you during the 'free' swim time, so there is a possibility that they may not. I know some people that did not get to touch them after the pictures had been taken. Anyway, of course it is up to you, but I would not recommend it.

You can also swim with whales if you take one of three weeklong whale watching boats that go to Silver Banks Marine Sanctuary from Puerto PLata. Is this something you might be interested in? I could track down their phone numbers. I know one can be found at www.aquaticadventures.com.
