Strange, I came back to the DR on this route last year, so not sure how it's new, but it was an amazing flight, best I've had in years. Will definitely try to use this company again. I connect via Zurich to the UK, and they link with SwissAir and you can buy a through ticket, luggage transfer etc. Great route.

Yes - the whole article is strange. Apart from the fact that I had heard that Edelweiss were operating already, I can't remember an Air France flight from Paris to POP for a long time.

Linda - when you used Edelweiss, what days are the flights and is it all year round?

I'm still trying to work out the schedule, not very clear at all, but when I manage to find the correct info I will post again on here. Different sites give contradictory details.....

No idea why the same announcement comes up every few months regarding Edelweiss Air starting to fly from ZRH to POP...
They are doing that since a few years now... (via PUJ or Montego Bay depending on the time of year). They not serving POP now do to the Runway work at POP but start again in June...

You can check the Edelweiss timetable here.
Sorry duplication of the above, but don't know how to delete this.

I was looking at their business class product and it's decent. They have flat beds with aisle access, 2 x 32kg of luggage, lounge access - it's like a mainstream airline business class. And for the longer haul flights to Europe, now that Air France is going, the choice of quality airlines is limited - if you want a flat bed, you're down to BA, Iberia and Edelweiss I believe. I'm discounting going via Miami as that is generally the definition of hell.

I priced up a one-way from Punta Cana to London at just over £1,000 which compares to about £4,000 on British AIrways. Particularly good for those on the north coast looking for a decent cabin to return to Europe on an overnight flight.
