President Luis Abinader was present for the start of the Tabacalera Garcia cigar production expansion on 14 January 2021. The La Romana Free Zone factory is the world’s largest producer of cigars, with 5,500 employees. The tobacco manufacturer produces some 33 million handmade and more than one billion mechanized cigars for world-famous brands in more than 30 countries. As reported, the company is investing RD$600 million in the expansion.
