The ferry is no longer operating.
Many brought there car here to drive while visiting the DR.I meant profitable as in a time management exercise. You dont get to see much as it moves at night, it takes 12 hours and then you arrive at a commercial port in SDQ not a passenger terminal. You re better off riding the crop duster American Eagle and getting here in half an hour to start your vacation. And also, it wouldnt be worth to send your car here, pay all those taxes get all the insurances and then try to send the car back to PR when you re done.

I thought I heard they had about a 30 day limit to go back.
The ferry made money also on a "time" long trip because people would spend money (Food, drinks, casino), it's like a party cruise for many people. They also rented cabins for those that did not want to sleep in the chairs. Not to mention the fee for transporting the car back and forth.
The price of that "Crop Duster American Eagle" is VERY expensive compared to the cost of the ferry.
