How do you get hired from the states? I can't locate a international job fair (I live near Cincinnati, OH). I sent my resume to Dominico-Americano but haven't heard from them. I am wondering what I should do or I should not do to find a teaching job in Santo Domingo.
Thanks! :)

You can do better

without a master's - can expect around $1k or 30,000 pesos a month for a local hire. If you are hired in the US, I think you can expect more....

That's pretty low, Annie. If you are a half-decent negotiator you can find much better offers.
Either way, teachers are typically done by 2PM or 3PM, leaving time to do other things for fun or profit. Lots of teachers tutor and do pretty well at it.

Of course they do.

the Armed Forces has vocational schools and so does Infotep. The PUCMM and the Salesian Brothers Politechnical School in Santiago offer types of vocational training.

In fact, the Jesuit school in San Cristobal also offers this program.

No place. All they do there is party.

You will look at Santo Domingo and its environs, Santiago and maybe La Romana...That list is not conclusive.

But it is pretty close. And you need to network first, learn basic Spanish, and get a feel for the place...be cool..

It could work out for you.
