This is all about marketing. It is a symbiotic relationship among the resorts and pitchpersons such as Mia Dahl's Guide. They fuel, sustain, and extol each other. It is all about the methods they use to decorate a cake to make it seem more tempting to take a bite of it. Reviews from tourists who have eaten the cake would be more credible.

Absolutely.
Mia Dahl supposedly has reviewed hundreds of hotels/resorts around the world which in itself seems a bit of a stretch.
But when you read the one above, her reports are less credible than say tripadvisor.
Two items stood out on this updated May, 2024 piece:
1. Margaritaville no longer has a presence in the DR having sold to Playa Resorts;
2. She mentions the onsite water park at Royalton Bavaro.....Royalton Bavaro has no water park onsite...but their sister hotel does and it is not next to the hotel......and certainly not onsite as the review indicates.
Her reviews seem to be cut and paste marketing highlights as you suggest.
Flawed as it it may be...stick with tripadvisor......at least you may find some honest reviews.
So many of these many so-called reviews on youtube and other sites are articles the hotels either pay for or compensate the writer in some way.....and there is nothing wrong with that as long as it is disclosed via a disclaimer.
