Saludos,

I'm posting a link to my just-published article on baseball in the DR. I spent two months in Santo Domingo Este last spring tagging along with baseball players and coaches, and this is the first fruit of that labor (if you can call it that).

The magazine is published out of New York. I shuttled between Los Minas, Boca Chica, and San Pedro for most of my trip. Thanks for reading, and for the nice words. I was pretty thrilled with the layout and the way my photos came out...

Yeah seriously. I have an idea for a documentary (Video and or Photo) that would involve me traveling to DR, but I don't know how to go about it.

Pick a topic. Try to find something dynamic and compelling that no one has done before. There are a lot of interesting little stories out there that do not get coverage.

Have a detailed outline. You are going to need two-one for the video and one for the audio. The trick is to get both to mesh seamlessly.

Choose what manner in which you will do the presentation, making sure you intermingle interviews with shots of the DR that capture the overall vibe of your presentation without going off-topic.

Your writing and editing skills must be up to the task. And I cannot stress enough the importance of an outline.

Buena suerte.

I forgot to mention translations(I am assuming you will be utilizing subtitles?).

You'll need someone who can grasp the nuances of Dominican colloquialisms and translate them into english.

I can't tell you how many spanish documentaries I've seen where I'm left pulling my hair out because the subtitle translations are so badly done.

from what i've heard, the southwest seems to be a good area for a documentary or any area near the Haitian border.
plenty of travel agencies look for footage of areas of the DR. most agencies seem to know about punta cana only.
