Fortune and Forbes publish the top 500 and 100 companies by revenues in the US. I've always been curious to know what are some of the top companies in the country besides Grupo Ramos, Corripio, Vicini, Abreus.
There has to be numerous companies genrating serious revenues in Santo Domingo and Santiago. If GDP is estimated at around 80 Billion, and Services takes around 60%+ of that pie, Agriculture 14%+ And Industry(Mining, Gold, Etc) around 23%, that means there must be atleast 100 companies generating revenues of $100+ Million. Nothing in US terms but massive for the Dominican Republic.
I always get aggravated when discussions about business turns into conversations about the Drug Dealers and the Political imbeciles that obviously do less than moral transactions.
The truth is, I've spoken to numerous Domincans who make Good money, who in turn talk to me about the Dominicans who make Serious Money and those that make more money than God. I've seen the Malls, I've seen Dominican Parking lots at clubs look like Exotic and Luxury Car Dealerships. Most business are Dominican owned and I there just aren't many International Companies in DR with the exception of Citigroup and a few others.
