Looks like DR computers are some of the most infectd in the world.
I guess that's due to the amount of young kids using PC's here.

Spyware (showing average number of spies per PC scanned)
Dominican Republic (43.643)
Ecuador (35.905)
Lithuania (35.516)

Adware (showing average number of spies per PC scanned)
Dominican Republic (6.495)
Slovenia (5.945)
Ecuador (5.52)

I believe it definately has to do with security awareness. Anyone can get 10 PCs, DSL and open up "un ciber" (a internet place). But yet they don't do anything about security. I recall using one of these places and seeing a whole buch of crap people download and leave on the computers.

As Dolores pointed out to me yesterday, most of the surfers are kids and teenagers. They click on anything and everything!

Yes indeed.

To further comment on my previous post I have gone to cyber places and look at the history on the comp I'm using and I'm amazed at what I find. All kinds of crap like bestiality sites, porn sites and a whole bunch of other crap.

There has to be ways to clean the PC automatically once a user logs off right?

And remember kids, if you are going to surf with a computer that is not yours, use protection. Maybe tiny condoms on your fingers?

I don't have a hard time believing this. As a matter of fact I have blocked my entire family (minus lil sis) from my email box. I got tired of their emails tripping my anti-virus program. They wanna talk to me? Use the darn phone. Plus it added the great advantage of not getting any more chain letters, petitions, rumors, and prayers with little winged angels.

PIB: So true...Same with my family and friends. I keep telling them to stop forwading everything they get. I'm particularly annoyed by the "feel good" chain letters they get and they think it's so cute they have to send them to me. I have several e-mail accounts and I give them the one where I don't really care if all of this crap ends up in.

El Tigre: There are ways, but these cybercafe owners don't seem to know much about it. A simple thing they could do for instance is setup their browsers to not maintain any history. If you use firefox you could do all this under the privacy tab on explorer under options. They could also install free spyware removal tools and schedule them to run on a daily basis, etc...It's just lack of education at this point.

You know what is worse? They haven't yet discovered BCC.

I get chain emails from people who seem to hit "forward to my entire address book" and don't have the decency to hide the emails. Then not only can I see the address of a lot of people that I don't know and maybe wouldn't want me to have their email address, but what's worst, I end up getting chain letters from people I don't even know! I tell you, anyone send me another chain letter and I am gonna stab him with a plastic spoon.

Some people are not ready for the digital revolution. They should revert post haste to telegrams and pony express.
