Aren't they letting girls in? Then some of the girls leave after curfew? Technically they are getting a pass. Or am I missing something?

Interesting background info. Thx for posting it. Something doesn't sound quite right. I know that Ahnvee is letting in non staying guests so that claim by the person who wrote the account doesn't seem to be accurate. I was also told today that the other day Ahnvee had a table set up and was charging a cover fee to get in.

Has anyone come across the reports that were written by the journalist referenced above?

Ahnvee's days are numbered, If they were on NYSE I'd go short all in 😁. Their PLD protector is gone and there's a new sheriff in town. They are on the hit list and they can't keep their nose clean 100% of the time. Just a matter of time before they slip, or get set up. Eventually a minor is gonna slip thru then whoever runs the place will end like Peter of The Passions. Peter, Bobby, Armando... Ahnvee. Looks like Dominicans don't want no gringos running these types of businesses, them yes, gringos no. Plus Ahnvee should be shut down because they are an illegal business. Prostitution in DR is legal but it is illegal for a 3rd party to profit off of the transaction, and Ahnvee's whole business model is based on prostitution, being the place where the prostitutes and the clients meet, and they are the 3rd party making money off of it.

I'm glad they didn't get shut
down. I'm all for adults being
adults behind closed doors and
not behaving like a bunch children
in the street.

This one is going to be interesting.
The only thing left for us to do now is
decide who wants to keep score going
forward? So far its....
Ahnvee vs Fiscal 1 - 0.

Gringos never win. One small victory is meaningless in a war they can't win. That owner/renter/whatever needs to be thinking of his exit strategy now.

whats all the fuss about?
jealousy of "business" operators in town who themself do not have a permit to run their "business" like a Hotel with the appropriate permits and under the required sanitary/safety protocols?
yeah, jealousy of the stupids not capable to manage their businesses by the given rules, thats something absolutely NOT new around town, for any town, specially tourism towns. we have the same fidiots running jealous here in PC on the successful competitors, too.
such is easy to be handled.
IF you are one of those "competitors/jealous fidiots",
just place your police "friends" in front of this business's Doors/next corner of the street, and take in every person out there on the street during Curfew Hours, Thats what your police friends and corrupt fiscal friends can do for you, because guests of a business running under a tourism hotel permit are not allowed to enter/leave during curfew hours(with exception of arrivaland departure airport transfers, which are allowed).
other than that,
stop beeing brainless stupid with no own ideas about running a business leglly with all papers during curfew/pandemic times.
get your own permits done or just stay closed til all will be over and your police and fiscal friends can help you again to run your brothel without any permit.

til then, This here discussed business seem's to do it the right way, there is a owner/stuff who has a plan, did the appropriate paperwork
and as opposed to the not so smart jealous competition they seem to do it Right,
because they are in business while others solely Waste bribe moneys on small cops and shitty fiscals to bother where they have no legal powers to bother at all.

Making it rain in the pool - hope that's money and not golden showers? - Fudging in the bathrooms? YouTube sex videos... Man that's high class clientele you got there Anhvee.
I think the hookers might be of slightly higher class than the guests. At least it's not them trying to impress others with their 'wealth'
God I would not book a room in that place if it were $15/night. You'd probably get crabs and syphilis just sitting at the bar after one beer.

But since this guy mentions the extortion attempted by high ranking authorities - I think he just went internet-public with his own death warrant (maybe literally) - because once Abinader gets wind of this type of government shake down he might be compelled to move against those 'high ranking authorities' and I am sure they will not be having any of that career-ending action started by an insignificant sleazy screw-palace hotel owner.
And Mayor Willy isn't going to stick a fork in his own eye for this joint.

Just beware the ides of October.

And I think he should not have insulted the other business owners. Because as much as the management of Ahnvee thinks they can survive in their own little island as a hotel & bar of one - that place needs other businesses, because no one will come as tourists if that dive is the only action left standing in Sosua.

here you are wrong.
pimping is illegal i DR, renting rooms to adults isn't, neither would it be illegal to run a bar or other establoshment where adults can meet same minded other adults.
if someone can proof that they get a share of the money the hoockers take from their clients,
That would be a illegal act and business closed.

Was Bobby taking money from the girls? And his was a place where everyone went to drink, people who couldn't less about the putas. Ahnvee's sole purpose is prostitution.

Sosua has one of the nicest beaches
anywhere on the planet. They could
gut the entire town inside out. Sosua
would still have one of the nicest beaches
on the planet.

The main weakness with the Ahnvee business model seems to be the preponderance of non-paying guests coming and going at all hours of the night during the curfew. The article mentioned the hotel being watched closely by the police. When those customers who want to leave after a few drinks with or without their newly acquired companion, then the real problems could start. Clearly lots of patrons are not renting rooms on the property so they are not planning on being there until 5 am. Don't know if the cover charge buys Ahnvee any leeway legally speaking. However, it's clear that this establishment is operating on the margins of the public health protocols. If interests outside of Sosua get motivated enough to take action, the end result will be quite different. The establishment is clearly doing whatever it can to take advantage of the business situation in the rest of the town. I can see how that could make other proprietors unhappy. If Ahnvee chose to follow the spirit of the law they could probably survive. As long as they try to be all things to all comers, things may not work out as expected. I mean how can patrons be coming and going during a curfew with attracting attention?

I'm the first to admit I have no first hand knowledge of how things work there only what I have been told. The workarounds for the curfew are clearly evident and being employed regularly. If that continues, expect more legal problems I guess. I'm told the the numbers of people on the property some of the time grossly exceeds what the health protocols intend. There are not enough rooms for all these guests even if they double up and share. Just another business doing whatever it thinks it can get away with and choosing not to be socially responsible and actually making it possible to limit the spread of disease while patronizing the establishment.

Those who are concerned will choose to eat and socialize in a calmer, cleaner and more sedate environment. Just as another poster mentioned he did in another post. Despite the claims of the person who wrote the explanation for the raid, I think we all pretty much know that Ahnvee has become known as the place to go and be during the curfew in Sosua. Who needs or wants all that potential drama or having a target painted on your back when you decide it's time to leave?
