Yankees Defeat Yankees In World Series

NEW YORK, NY — The 2024 Major League Baseball season ended in historic fashion, as the New York Yankees successfully defeated the New York Yankees in the World Series.

Despite their best efforts, the Yankees were unable to overcome the Yankees, opening the door for the Yankees to pull out a victory over the Yankees in Game 5 in the Bronx.

"We were just too much for us tonight," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said following the loss. "We felt like we had a good game plan, we knew we were behind in the series and had an uphill battle, but we were confident we could win. Unfortunately, we weren't able to put up enough of a fight against us. But, hey, hats off to us. We're the toughest opponent we've faced all year. It's really difficult for us to win games against us."

Key strategies employed by the Yankees to defeat the Yankees included having Aaron Judge drop a routine fly ball, messing up a simple throw to third, and Gerrit Cole not covering first base as though he were playing for a AAA Little League team.

Though disappointed to come up short, Yankees players were quick to give credit to the team that defeated them. "You've got to hand it to us," said star New York slugger Aaron Judge. "We were clearly able to stop every attempt we made to win this series. It hurts. But, hey, you've just got to tip your cap to us for beating us out there on the field tonight. We'll just rest up during the offseason, come back next spring, and make another run at it. Hopefully, we don't run up against us in the playoffs next year."

At publishing time, baseball fans across the country were congratulating the Yankees on soundly defeating the Yankees.

They looted, smashed windows and burned vehicles in L.A after the win. I thought they might do that in N.Y after that embarrassing spectacle. Glad they didn't.

Winning a penant and the worst manager? That has to be a first.
Anyway his actual record does not show anything of the kind:

BOONE CANNOT WIN THE BIG GAME

Since Boone became the Yankees manager in 2018 his coaching tenure has been the following:

2018 - Lost the ALDS
2019 - Lost the ALCS
2020 - Lost the ALDS
2021 - Lost the AL Wild Card
2022 - Lost the ALCS
2023 - Missed Playoffs
2024 - Lost the World Series

Aaron Boone Should Be Fired For That World Series Meltdown So The Yankees Can Start Fresh | Mike Gunzelman

Maybe, just maybe the Dodgers were the better team. They had a better record.

By the way Dominican Juan Soto is a free agent and will sign one or maybe the highest Baseball contract ever. Looking like 500 to 700 Million Dollars. Yankees won't get him...........

The way he just sat there after the Yankees lost....you could kind of tell that he won't (probably) be back with the Yankees next year.

His agent is a shark and Soto said he is open to all teams. Translation "go to the highest bidder". And it won't be the Yankees.............Mets are the favorite. They will spend............

Fifth game of the series was the only game I watched.
Yankees gave the game away in the 5th. The rest is history.

My oldest grandson is a Yankee fanatic, so I watched the games because of him, even though he’s away at college. I’m not even close to a Yankee fan, but as a former New Yorker I was rooting for them. That game was a disaster, like the Bad News Bears.

I am following to see where Soto ends up.

Juan Soto turned out to be a bit of a disappointment at crunch time.

I can understand that……. But I’m hoping the Mets make him an offer he can’t refuse. I was a kid when they became a franchise, and suffered (with my dad) through the early years, when they were so bad that it was amazing. Whole seasons like that 5th inning 😊. I cheer them silently, because they’re really hated where I live.

The Mets are the favorite in the race. They can pay what he wants. And what Dominican does not like it in NYC.................

Actually quite a few. My BIL hated living in NY, much prefers NJ, used to live in Maryland. My wife's cousin hates the whole Eastern seaboard- Lives in Dallas. Bunch of friends that immigrated, originally to NYC are all now living in North Carolina. Those with options quickly leave NYC. I believe the Mets already have the highest payroll in baseball.

Yankees, Mets Clear Favorites To Sign Soto

Across baseball, it's widely viewed that the Soto race already comes down to just two teams: the Yankees and their crosstown rival New York Mets.

The Yankees are the Yankees, with the money and cachet to sign any free agent they want. Soto's already enjoyed tremendous success with his new team, teammates and in the new stadium. They're arguably the favorites to win the American League, ahead of a tough Baltimore Orioles team. If they do reach the World Series, how do they let Soto walk? What do they tell the fans, who've seen the Yankees mostly whiff on big free agents, Judge aside, since signing Gerrit Cole in 2019?

For the Mets, owner Steve Cohen has deeper pockets than anyone, a resurgent season from Francisco Lindor provides reason for optimism moving forward, and there's a ton of money coming off the team's books in 2025 and 2026. Plus, he'd secure a much-needed win over the behemoth Yankees.

It makes sense. Both teams have the need for Soto, the money to sign him, and tremendous incentives to do so. He's a unique free agent, a unique talent, and a near-guarantee to exceed the present day value of Ohtani's contract. Unless the Dodgers decide they won't be out bid again.

?????? My wife Cousin those lives in Dallas was a commissioning engineer for oil and gas refineries. Worked all over the world, extremely highly paid. BIL is a cabinet maker, he can work anywhere and make money. The friends that went to NC work in the pharmaceutical industry. As far as Baseball players they rarely actuall live in NY , they just play ball there.
