Just to know a bit about Amanera a family of four checked in for 5 days. They were not really golfers but did play one day. You cannot play on the course unless you are an owner or stay at the hotel or your name is Michael Jordan. More on him later. But the four played and only for less than two hours for a few holes. Price was $7.000 US. Their total bill for the stay was $40,000 US.

As for MJ, he promised to spend $50,000,000 if they bulld an airport close to hotel, so he plays there anyway..............Ricky Fowler who was leading the US Open going into the last day has a house there among others. Also the MLB pitcher Zack Greinke has a house there............

Aman Resorts[edit]

Main article: Aman Resorts
Doronin led a group of investors to buy out luxury hospitality company Aman Resorts in 2014.[27] In doing so, Doronin became involved in an ownership dispute with Omar Amanat and Aman's founder, Adrian Zecha. Amanat had partnered with both Zecha and Doronin to buy Aman, and had been expected to contribute $10 million for a jointly-funded deposit. In early January, Doronin received a financial statement showing the money was from Zecha instead. The partnership then fell apart: in April, Zecha announced his resignation as CEO and chairman ahead of a scheduled end-of-July departure, and Doronin took over as CEO. A week later, Zecha was locked out of his office and was also removed from his Aman-owned home, after which he and Amanat claimed ownership of the company. By July, the dispute had escalated into legal matters, with a London High Court temporarily reinstating Zecha, and Doronin suing Amanat in New York City and alleging fraud.[28][29][30]

Oh, I completely understand the 1%'rs knowledge of the place.

That leaves the 99% out.
To be fair, when it belong to the Central Bank and basically anyone could play the golf course, the 99% were not particularly making a beeline to enter there.

Its like Juanillo beach in Cap Cana. That beach is naturally made and has been there since before the arrival of Columbus. Hardly anyone knew that place existed and no one was losing sleep for not going there at least once in their life... Then came Cap Cana around the early 2000's...

It was never popular........the golf course... several failed hotels in the area.

Robt Trent Jones designed the course in the 70's..... the DR didn't get around to building it until the 90's

Great trivia question..... what was the last Trent Jones built ?

It really is a good course - changed now to allow space for the Aman.... but still good
