The Abinader administration announced the creation of commercial corridors for trade across the Haitian border. The announcement ends the total closure of the official gates at the Jimani, Elias Piña, Independencia and Dajabon border official crossing points.

Homero Figueroa, spokesperson for the Presidency, said the National Security Council has decided on new measures to strengthen the border closure while allowing for legitimate trade.

Among the measures taken to strengthen the closing of the border with Haiti starting next Wednesday, 11 October 2023 at 8am is establishing a biometric registry at the border and creating a fund for businesses to pursue mechanization of agricultural work.

Indefinitely extend the issuing of visas to Haitian citizens.

This is confusing. As far as I know - Visas are not being issued currently. And this is to be continued ?
