Transfering Money to the DR

Does anyone know how best to transfer money to the DR from a Canadian Bank? I know you can pull money out of an ATM but for bigger transfers? To do a wire from Canada you need to be physically in the Canadian branch so how can you do that when you are already down there?

The laws changed a few years ago. You will have to have someone transfer it to you if you are not in Canada.

just go into the bank and get it, debit card and passport. Depends how much you're talking about obviously.

Open account with HSBC Canada and send wires online.

You can use paypal. Just select the option to send money to a friend and will not have to pay a fee

yes, normally you need to be present to do a wire.

You may be able to arrange it by e-mail but that meeting ( to arrange it) might need to be in person

What bank do you deal with in Canada? RBC has an account in the USA. Open this account,- get cheques,- transfer money online from your canadian RBC account to your USA RBC account. Go to a cheque cashing place in RD,--get cash.

May be can use Western Union, Moneygram or Xoom from yourself to yourself, they all have online facilities...

No difficulties at all. Just go to your bank here and order the transfer. Off course like elsewhere you should proof the origin of the money if it is a bigger (more than 10.000 US$
