Hello friends
We are family and will come in Dominican Republic for 14 days in February 23th. It is our first time here and Caribbean also. For that, we need your help and advices. We have a fly to Punta Cana and back.
We like beeches, sunbathing, swimming, good natures and good food. I think that we must see 2 or 3 places at least for our stay. We are middle age people and need more quite and privacy. For that we have some questions and will be happy if can help.

1. Where in DR, where is crystal clear water, where is big beaches that not very crowded?
2. What is best site or agency that we can book some hotels for normal prices?
3. How is easy and secure to use transport, taxi, bus, train?
4. What is dangerous here for health ? for eating, drinking or special mosquitoes, spiders or etc?
5 Do you have recommendation about hotel, villa that you know?

Thank you and I hope to meat some of you for drink, walk ?

I have been to Punta Cana several times, I'll give you my thgoughts below, there are several DR1 members who live in that area and can maybe give more detailed advice...

1. Where in DR, where is crystal clear water, where is big beaches that not very crowded?
Punta is known for exactly that, miles and miles of white sand beach with crystal clear turquoise water...as for the crowds, just walk away from your resort in either direction and you should find a more quite section between resorts.

2. What is best site or agency that we can book some hotels for normal prices?
I think All Inclusive Vacations, Resorts, and Packages | Cheap Caribbean has the consistently best prices and special offers

3. How is easy and secure to use transport, taxi, bus, train?
Taxis are very easy but a bit expensive, there is public transportation, but it's not great in the Punta Cana/Bavaro area...there are no trains.

4. What is dangerous here for health – for eating, drinking or special mosquitoes, spiders or etc?
DON'T DRINK THE WATER!!! except bottled....the ice is fine. Other than that you're pretty good. Many people worry about salad, fruits, etc. that are washed in tap water....and buffet food or "street food" in general. I have never had a problem with food here, but others have, so it depends on your system...and your luck ;)

5 Do you have recommendation about hotel, villa that you know?
Check out the "Travel - East Coast" Forum on DR1...just about every resort in PC/Bavaro has been discussed and reviewed...there are also many other travel review websites with detailed reports of each resort.

From your description, PC/Bavaro sounds perfect..except for the ease in seeing other places as it's a bit isolated from the rest of the country. That being said, there are plenty of tours that will take you to other areas for day trips...look into La Romana/Isla Saona. And maybe something towards the north of the east coast...towards Miches.

Staying for 14 days in Punta Cana outside of an AI and without a car could be pretty limiting in good food and entertainment options....at least at reasonable prices...if you don't want to be in an All-Inclusive resort, you may want to go somewhere other than Punta Cana...although there are several non-inclusive hotels and many condos and apartment rentals, it is still geared towards the AI traveller....

They're slowly trying to change that, but it's still several years away from being a good place to rent a reasonable hotel room, close to the beach, and easily get from good cheap restaurant to another each day, and have a lot of other activities to check out near by...just doesn't exist now.

Because we are not so activity ppl - middle age I think that plan be look like -
First 5 days in Bunta Cana or Bevaro because we arrive later and need to acclimatization.

Second 5 days go to Semana place, at we don't know where because so many offers. In this place i plan to rent a car to explore peninsula. Your advices is very welcome for this place.

And last 4 days going to south may be Bayahibe or Juan Dolio and find qiet place to to relax on beach. We want to spend 4-5 days in south t west. Where is good places there?

Regards
Nikolay

Each is a different section of the same resort complex where there are 4 resorts in total. Some allow interchanging of facilities (Iberostar Bavaro can use facilities of the Punta Cana and Dominicana sections)

Iberostar Dominicana
Iberostar Punta Cana
Iberostar Bavaro and
Iberostar Grand Bavaro (new adult only)

please keep in mind that beaches are not the same everyday. i have lived between Key West and Santo Domingo for over thirty years. depending upon, tides, wind direction, clouds, time of year, you may not find the beach in the picture. i've taken my boat to a beautiful sandbar on saturday, returned the next day, sunday, and conditions have been such that i can not find the bar, (sandbar). a lot depends on wind direction and other variables, who else is on the beach? to time of day,,,,,,,on some parts of this island it tends to get cloudy in the afternoon, many of my friends like this as it seems to be not as hot, but, not good for getting a tan. perfection is a variable.
