Hi -
I know this has been discussed before, but I'm looking for current comprehensive information.
Will be flying to Santo Domingo and then coming to Las Terrenas. Probably staying at Monte Placido (comments or thoughts on this place welcome). Will need transport around Las Terrenas so planning to rent a car either at the airport or in Las Terrenas after we arrive.

So interested in thoughts on whether to go by bus or gua gua or something like that to Las Terrenas and then rent a car, or whether to rent a car in Santo Domingo. Have read that the road over to Las Terrenas isn't easy, so maybe bus or gua gua better?

If you recommend bus or gua gua, please direct me to info on times and locations of these.
Thanks much.

There is a large GuaGua the leaves Santo Domingo at 1:30 PM and will arrives in LT in about 2 1/2-3 hours. Once you get to your hotel in LT they can help with arranging a vehicle for you when you need it. There is also the rental option from SDQ. There is a new highway from Santo Domingo to Sanchez/Samana that is in very good shape and very scenic. What time are you arriving SDQ?

Las Terrenas is a city on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic if you want to go there flights go directly to Samana International Airport. From the airport to Las Terrenas you can travel on cab and cab drivers will ask for $70 US dollars. Guagua routes exist from Santo Domingo Sanchez, and Samana.

malickk, how much are they paying you to be such a pest? if we match it, would you consider playing in traffic?

Sorry. The 1:40 guagua is the large, more comfortable, one.

I thought it was the 3 PM one. And, it may depends on the day, fin de semanas are much busier.

At the end of the day, after a flight, I take the first one :)
