I have a business engagement in Santo Domingo, and then would like to take my wife to Puerto Plata for a week. What flights are available between the two areas? Is there a web site or phone number to get schedules?
Thanks for any info given.

The Metro or Caribe bus, with A/C and either quite comfy is only about 4 hours (maybe less?) and only about $5 each. By the time you got to Herrera (the domestic airport) and got all checked in etc., you would probably be 1/2 way there. Plus flight time would add an other 30 minutes.

Otherwise hire a car and driver and spend less time ( no stops) for what I would guess would be be far less $$ than two air tickets on God knows what sort of plane. And this is all relevant if flights exist and they have an amendable schedule for you.

Air Santo Domingo has been quoted to flly domestic flights and yet their web site is only JFK, SJU and SDQ flights so maybe they don't any more. And when they did I recall it was via Punta Cana so you head 200 Km east to get 150 Km north.

And you'd have the advantage of door to door service since the POP airport is some distance from POP the town and you need to pay to get there when and if you arrive.

I appreciate your response. I have been considering going by car, just wasn't sure of time involved. Even considered renting a vehicle as we do on many of our trips, but I hear SD is a big city and could be confusing to a non-Spanish speaker.
Strange that there isn't an intra-island system of flights...

Like Cessna's etc., you may be advised, add up the time and the hassle and hire a car and see the countryside. And stay alive.
