Trip #8 to DR ? Boca Chica (again)

Although this was officially trip #8, I can?t count the first few because I did the AI resorts then and didn?t venture out much.
OK, I?ve been around DR a lot, but I still feel compelled to spend at least some of my trip in Boca Chica. I?ve gone there so much that I know a lot of the locals by their first name and they know me. I even met DR1 infamous ?Badpiece? :rambo: a year ago; this guy looks like a NY?er, but moves around DR like a local. I tried to keep up with him, but gave up very fast.

I?m mixed in ethnicity so everyone I?ve ever met assumes I?m Spanish (that works to my advantage).
Yeah, Boca Chica isn?t the hopping place it once was, but it can be a lot of fun if you follow some simple rules:

1. Don?t wear T-Shirts that read ?DR?, ?I love DR? etc.
2. Try not to carry a camera in plane site (I don?t bring one at all)
3. Don?t smile at every girl you see.

I hung out this week with some locals that I know; we all watched El Tigres win the championship. We had a lot of beers and a lot of fun.

My Spanish is average to good, but I still need some work on verbs.

Some odd and funny parts of the trip:

1. I saw a kid pushing a 3-wheeled bike with a basket of fish at about 9am; I saw that same kid about 5pm (I doubt he sold all of the fish from this morning, so that means those fish were in the sun for at least 7 hours. :lick: )
2. I watched a truck with fruits and eggs ride around for hours; I asked a guy what he thought about eggs being in the heat all day, his answer was, ?Well, chickens site on eggs, right?? How could I respond to that.
3. I watched a women call the police on someone because the guy didn?t pay her for sex (this still blows my mind every time I see it).
4. While on the way to the disco, a guy says to me, ?he you want some coca?? I said no. ?do you want a nice lady?? I said no. ?how about you take a little coca and I send a lady to your hotel? I said ?LOOK, I DON?T WANT COCA OR A LADY NOR DO I WANT COCA AND A LADY; I JUST WANT TO HAVE A BEER AND WATCH THE GAME, BEAT IT?!

Anyway, Hotel Europe is still an ok place to stay, but I would suggest going to Casa Coca just up the street for breakfast. The service is better and the foot is pretty good.

I know DR has a lot to offer, but I still have fun in Boca Chica.

(I liked this one EVEN better than #3 - which is very, very good and deserves its own thread, some.where.)

Thanks for a great laugh!!!!!!

About this remark, "I?m mixed in ethnicity so everyone I?ve ever met assumes I?m Spanish (that works to my advantage)."

Well, here yeah go...

I use this site for my fantasy football league (if you don't know the NFL or fantasy football, the site will not make sense).

At the top is a picture of me in a jet that the crew was working on and someone snapped a picture of me.

Just To Clear Something Up For You,You DON"T, "LOOK Spanish"

After seeing your foto, you DO look like some Dominicans,(The vast majority are Black, but they come in all COLORS!)but to a Dominican,"Looking Spanish",means you look like a "Spaniard",you know, someone from SPAIN,(Espanol)not like someone from "Cristo Rey"(Un Domincano)!
I was in Boca Chica 2 weeks ago.Did you try the food, especially the Pizza, at "Pizzaria Napolitano"? EXCELLENT!!

and the food...

I hope you're looking at the picture in the top left of me in the blue shirt and not Muhammad Ali LOL :cross-eye

I don't want to get hung up on semantics, but the point was that in DR many people think I'm Dominican; that was it.

As far as the food, I didn't eat any pizza, but I did eat at a place right on the main strip of Boca Chica. Can't remember the name, but it's kind of a Dutch/German feel. The bread is baked freash everyday and food was great! I wish I could remeber the name:ermm:

Maybe someone could help me since the main strip of Boca Chica isn't that big. I was maybe a block from Playa Vista, one shop over from the place that claims to have "The Best Cappuccino in Boca Chica" (it was good, but I coudn't find any other to campare it to.

your post about bc. the 1st time tourist could inform better. Perhaps you could mention the names of the owners of the rest. or indeed names of your friends. For example; Relosk posted about eating some good food at a Pizzaria Napitano. Nowadays one tends to notice all the goings on en Duarte; just wondering why your 1st post evolved around cocaine!!!

Well, since you asked. Manual became a friend of mine after I started staying at the Hamaca so much. He drives a "mota concho" for a living and really showed me around. He's got me out of a jam a few years ago and I make a point to hang out and keep in touch with him ever since. Real cool guy (and no, he's never given me the sad story for money).

George is a young guy I just befriended not too long ago with "Onyeah" that works at a bodega accross from the Europa.

They're cool people, they let me know who's cool and who's not so cool. I really keep everyone at "arm's lenth", but it's nice to go to other countries and see people that recognize me and I recognize them.

As far as names and places, I didn't go to write an article, I went to get the heck away from work. I don't even carry a camera. I try to look up the name of the restaurant, but all I remember is the "Pollo y salsa con pappa fritas" was great.

I know I screwed up the spelling, but you get the drift. Also, this isn't my first post; I've been a member here for almost a year, I read more than I post. Just thought it was a funny story to share. That's all.
