For military vets who might not know, there is a VA clinic in Puerto Plata. A friend of mine just signed up for it. Even for vets that are only down here part-time, or for those over 65 that haven't been able to get insurance here, it's a useful source of medical care. They say they will be opening a small clinic in Sosua in about a year:

Since I am a vet, when I met some people from this center I investigated a bit. As I understand it, they are not officially part of the VA. For this reason, I pulled back from involvement.

There was some pressure applied to get me to go in and register, but the pressure just validated, IMO, my decision not to engage with the center.

I have heard that the new construction in Sosua where the old El Flow used to be is going to be some kind of U.S. veterans clinic, has anyone else heard that,I heard it from a very reliable source. I find it to be quite the odd location though.

Same here. It makes me wonder how they make money if they're not part of the VA.

I also know of them helping a couple of veterans get an increase in Veteran benefits, which I do not think I need.

When I've needed medical intervention, I have flown up to Miami to the VA Hospital which is a very impressive place indeed.

If they're not part of the VA, what are they then? Do they provide any medical services to vets? The friend of mine that sent me that info signed up and seemed pretty convinced they're legit(?).
