Influenza A and Covid variants have people seeking medical help. The heavy rains that consistently have been falling in spring and the start of summer have also boosted the spread of dengue. The picture is worsened with the Sahara Dust exacerbating conditions of those who suffer from respiratory problems.

Dr. Magdelyne Ceballos, a pneumologist at Clinica Abreu, told Diario Libre that the Influenza type A is the virus that is the most contagious here. She says there has been an increase in Covid-19, Influenza B and respiratory syncytial virus, the latter mostly affecting children.

It is the time to take action to increase immunity. Consider retaking frequent hand washing, distance keeping and the use of facial masks.

There are variants & mutations. And especially on the North Coast, there are lots of non-Dominicans who drank the anti-vax Kool-Aid. I am vaccinated. I had COVID twice, but mercifully, it was not as catastrophic as it could have been. (I have asthma=high risk.) I choose to continue to mask in public places, like supermarkets, banks, and clinics.

The vaccines, none of them, prevent covid, and none of the masks protect you from viruses. Scientifically proven.

While the vaccinated got pericarditis and other inflammatory conditions of the heart. I got two shots plus a booster, but that doesn't mean everything was kosher about these vaccines. When you increase your medical knowledge about these vaccines then you won't be as flippant about criticizing those that were cautious.

I get that but at that time it was a different situation. So I got 2 shots and skipped the booster because the situation was less severe by then. Of course they were not 100% kosher, same applies to the daily food in the supermarket.

I do not care to engage the COVID debate because those that believe will never convince those that do not. There is nothing to gain in discussion.

What I will say is regarding influenza A. We have had several children and entire family members in hospitals with this.

Sometimes I think people here are quick to go to doctors or be admitted to hospitals but then again, unless they are going to CERTAIN doctors or hospitals I tend to believe the medical knowledge is limited, as is for the patients or family of patients.

And like in other countries, where there is insurance, it is used to its fullest.

So no opinion. No comment.

I get it, everyone has their own opinion on the matter. But there is absolutely no reason to disrespect others' opinions/beliefs if you do not agree with them. As someone who suffers from asthma, has an elderly parent/in-laws, I am very careful. Hand washing is a given no matter what the situation is. I agree with you Lindsey, debating the subject is a no win either way.

I had pericarditis twice, long before covid and had to have it removed because it calcified on my heart. Open heart surgery. Everyone's time is coming.
Well Mr Bob, everyone has a condition sooner or later. I know you thought I was perfect, however I have diverticulosis. If I eat seeds or nuts I am brought to my knees in pain. On that note, I recently had a physical check up, there was not a masked employee on sight, Doctor, nurse receptionist or the honey who took my blood
