We have narrowed our honeymoon search down to two hotels. Viva Wyndham Tangerine in Caberete or the Sosua Bay Hotel in Sosua. Has anyone been to either hotel. Anything I should know before booking. I have read reviews on them both and been on the websites but obviously that doesnt paint the whole picture. Any feedback would be gratefully appreciated......... Chris & Debz

The Wyndham is good but not great. It's on par with the Iberostar Dorada; some aspects better and some worse. It is not in the league however of Secrets Excellence in Punta Cana and certainly not a top 4/5 star hotel. I would suggest you go on tripadvisor.com and research both hotels and see what others have said about their experiences at each. It will make your decision that much easier.

Viva Wyndham Tangerine is IMHO the best AI in Cabarete and Sosua Bay Hotel is the best AI in Sosua. Having said that Sosua Bay has had some inconsistent reviews due to ongoing ownership and management issues (which MAY be resolved now) and of late a nagging illness issue which has caused a bit more than the normal traveller's issues.billy said:

For what it's worth (and this depends on one's personal weighing of factors), the Viva Wyndham Tangerine is currently undergoing benchmarking and certification from the international independent eco-certifier Green Globe 21, meaning that they're making a commitment to the environment and local community. If you find the two pretty much equal in other factors, and have good reports on service for the Wyndham, maybe this can tip the balance?

Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada Hotel
We recently got offered a good package deal to go to this Hotel aswell. Has anyone got any personal comments about this hotel. As before we have looked on all websites nearly to check it out but we would welcome any more personal opinions on this hotel

Well, this one is also undergoing Green Globe benchmarking and certification, the only one in Puerto Plata so far to to do so...billy said:
Tangerine is much nicer than the Sosua Bay Hotel which I only visited, fewer stairs, elevators available at Tangerine
