The Superintendent of Health and Labor Risks (Sisalril) has launched an educational campaign titled “Don’t fall for it” (No caigas en gancho) to alert affiliates of family health insurance plans regarding some shady practices of local health service providers called Administrators of Health Risks (ARS).
The idea behind this campaign is to alert affiliates to the possible use of possibly illegal enticements in order for the affiliate to change ARS/HMO. Such offers as money, pharmacy bonus or discounts, dental coverage or free doctor consults are among the tricky offers.
Sisalril warns its affiliates to avoid accepting a change of ARS/HMO without a real and informed agreement to the transfer, as this could well put health coverage at risk. While a current provider may be obliged to cover certain medical costs, a new provider could renege on the coverage.
