This may seem a strange request. However could someone please let me know what a Peso, 5 Peso,10 Peso or 20 Peso buy in the DR? Doing a little market research of products in the DR.

5 peso- ride in a publico taxi
10 pesos- shoeshine
20 pesos- 12 oz bottle beer

Price is colomado in the campo

1 peso =1- 1.5 teaspoons of tomatoe paste
1 peso= 1 ripe banana
1 peso= 3 mints
2 pesos=a bon bon or muffin at colmados
2 pesos= 1 egg
2 pesos= piece of bread
2 pesos= cajita de clorets (2 pieces)
3 pesos= a chubby soda
3 pesos= a really small bag of patato chips
5 pesos= shoe shine in the campo
5 pesos= one roll of toliet paper
5 pesos= one packet of napkins
5 pesos= a small bottle of fake oj (jugola)
6 pesos= 4 x 1 inch soap de cuaba for washing clothes
8 pesos= 1 pound of rice
12 pesos= 1 pound of beans
15 pesos= 1 pound of pork any cut
20 pesoes= 1 pound of chicken, cut and cleaned vs whole

of course.... especially if you are a little kid. But now when kids ask for 1 peso "dame un peso", it's usually like "dame cinco pesos" give me 5 pesos. It goes a lot further.

Now if you are talking about larger bags of doritos, cookies etc. be prepared to spend anywhere from 10-30 +. It also depends are where you are buying your snacks and if you are in the city or the country side. In general grocery stores are cheaper than colmados, but it really depends are if you are only looking to buy 1 or 2 pesos worth of merchandise or the whole bag/bar of whatever your looking for.
