What is that drink at RIU Bambu - Punta Cana?

While at the RIU Bambu in Punta Cana, we had a drink that had lots of lime cut up at the bottom, sugar and this was all crushed together and then they put in some liquor (??type) and sometimes soda water, I believe. Can you tell me name of drink and what was the liquor they put in it? It was great, but powerful.

I think you're referring to Caprihinia...as made in NY Bartender's Guide, it is lime, sugar syrup, and a Brazilian cane sugar alcohol. When I order it in the RD, I watch the barkeep use lime, fine sugar, and white rum. A Russian xchange student used vodka, lime and sugar...WHATEVER, it's one fine, smooth drink, esp. with the RD "limons."
