If you want to end up hogtied, dead with a photo of it on the news do not go to clubs there to meet up w locals

I hope you are joking Mcinbrass.

dex, I used to prefer clubs on the east side when I lived in the capital (I now live in Santiago). If you don't know the city try any of the clubs on Ave Lincoln like La Barrica or more upscale Mitre, wine bar/restaurant. There are clubs in several of the big hotels on the Malecon.

I think you need to be more specific. Are you wanting to socialize with hookers, gays, gay hookers, old folks, athletes, car guys, music people etc etc.
Or as macinbrass said you can do the clubs and go with the dead hog tied thing.

No disrespect to the members here but most are old and conservative. They will not be able to help you lol.

Monday nights: The entire city is at Mixer Lounge.

Tuesday nights: Oceans VIP

Wednesday-Sunday: Sparta Lounge, Avenida
Venezuela Euforia, Kuora, Jet Set, VIP Room especially on Sunday nights, 300 Bar and Lounge, Vent Lounge, and many others. Dominicans party and nightlife is insane here.

Oh go to 4jacks in Sambil mall. It's not a disco but you'll have a great time. Head to the new disco Rustic on the same floor and dance the night away.

I would suggest that you go to Guibia on the Malecon, it's not a club but a big open space next to the sea with a lot of things happening and people. Best time to go is early evening, but all evening is busy at the weekends. They also have an open air gym and zumba classes most evenings at about 6.30pm. It's a good place to meet with locals, it's safe as there are a lot of police, and there are places you can buy food and beers. Another option would be Salsa in the Ruins on a Sunday evening in the Zona Colonial, again it's safe and full of locals. If you can dance salsa or merengue, then go grab a partner and dance. Regarding clubs, I would suggest that if you don't know the city that well, you go to the many club on Avenida Mercedes in the Zona Colonial, best nights are between Friday and Sunday. Places like Veo Veo, Espiral, Caciba are always busy and it's safe there as heavily policed.

There are much trendier, younger, places to go in barrios like Villa Consuelo but honestly these are not recommended unless you are going with locals as these areas are not safe at night to walk around unless you are a local. Avenida Venezuela is still also a good option with many bars and clubs to choose from.

I dont want to be disrespectful but your recommendations suck. Those clubs in zona colonial suck and are filled with tourists. La Espiral is hit or miss and the others are flat out boring. The ruins is touristy and boring. Playa Guibia isnt nightlife. It's a hangout spot but plaza Juan Baron is better for that. I wouldnt recommend neither unless you're just bored and dont want to dress for the night.

And you're wrong here. Villa Consuelo is beyond safe. It has surpassed Avenida Venezuela as the go to spot in the city. You do not need to be a local to party there. Of course you should use street smarts but that's anywhere in the capitol.

The only club district that is slightly dangerous but still doable is behind Sambil Mall in Villa Juana. Chi chi up, Praga Lounge and black hookah bar is a good damn time. Your main concern here is being pickpocketed because it's just so many people out there.

Oh and for people of all ages La Barrica is reopening one of its locations on Avenida Venezuela. La Barrica is just a good ole time for all. I have no idea why they closed them all. But they reopen next week

Alex I think everyone who is a regular here knows that you are very familiar with Santo Domingo and you live "as a Dominican" doing all the things locals do. I don't know you but I suspect you have Dominican roots and probably fit in so locals think you are a Dominican. I think you just need to be a little careful when giving advice to someone who you don't know, who maybe is coming to the city for the first time, who maybe doesn't speak Spanish, who is maybe white and more obviously from out of town. Sending that type of visitor to Villa Consuelo at night is, to me, a dangerous thing to do. Hell, my Dominican friends have a fit when I walk around Villa Consuelo in the daytime on my own. But I would stress that I am white, I am blonde and I do stick out as a target. I work with tourists and I live in the city. I know that there are places I would go myself because I know how to behave, I speak Spanish and I hang out with Dominicans. But I would never recommend those places to others unless I was sure they would be safe. My god-daughter was born in Guandules. I have walked around that area several times but always with her mother, who is known in the area, and I feel completely safe. But I don't think any taxi would take me to Guandules at night and I would be seriously at risk walking around there at night on my own.

By the way we didn't mention Bio bar in the Zona Colonial which is 100% locals and is probably one of the best bars in the Zona. And, again, completely safe for a newcomer to go to.

Stop being a victim of race. The places I recommended have plenty of young white men (21-44) and the Dominican women love them. The places I recommended are totally safe since there is so many people out there. Just keep things in your front pockets. I understand your points, believe me I do, but the worst nightlife is in the colonial zone. I see so many people spend their entire vacations in the colonial zone and I think wow they just wasted their Dominican vacation/experience. Btw there is another forum with those pickup guys who travel named rooshv; All white guys and they all do the clubs I mentioned as well. If you stay on the main street and dont wander off you have absolutely no worries. Live a little bro.
