Movie Buff

All Hollywood movies are play in English with Spanish subtitles.
It's more like 50-50. Almost all Hollywood cartoons/children's films will be dubbed in Spanish (Happy Feet, Beverly Hills Chihuahua.) Also, some international action blockbusters may also be dubbed in Spanish (Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, The Hulk.)

BB is right at least at about children's films, which are almost always dubbed into Spanish. Don't really go to action blockbuster type films so can't confirm or deny that one.

Been going to the movies in Santo Domingo since 2004 (Megacentro and Palacio) and believe me, "The Hulk" and "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" were in Spanish as well as every animated movie coming from the United States.

90% of the movies are in English, unless they are animated or locally produced, and of course those originally produced in Spanish.

I've seen quite a few movies in theaters in the DR and I can definitely say that not all theaters show hollywood movies in english. At least that's been the case in Santiago. IMO, it's been sort of a crap shoot.

For example, I saw one of the Fast and Furious movies as well as the last Harry Potter flick at the movie theater inside of Plaza International in Santiago and both were in english with spanish subs. But I also saw one of the Pirates of the Caribbean flicks at another theater, and it was dubbed in spanish without english subs.

It definitely depends upon the theater.

It's not theater dependent in Santo Domingo.
If a film comes out dubbed in Spanish, then as far as I have seen, all show it dubbed in Spanish, and visa versa for Spanish subtitles on English language films.
