What on earth does this mean?

cojelo suaves.......My Dominican friend has said this when we're talking and for the life of me I can't figure out what it means. Usually I'll just translate something when I don't understand it but the translation for it doesn't make sense. Any ideas?

Actually the correct spelling originating from the infinitive form of the verb is: Coger and in the expression it's "c?gelo suave" (with the 'g') because it's the informal command of the verb form t?. The 'g' changes to 'j' in the subjunctive and formal commands forms such as coja, cojas, coja etc.

It's another one those frequent spelling errors in Spanish because of the confusion phonetically between /g/ and /j/ which carry the same sound but the /g/ changes to a hard /g/ depending on the vowel that follows it. Compare the phonetic pronunciation of 'general' vs. 'gota'. A soft /g/ vs. a hard /g/ sound.
