What would it cost per day to eat out in cabarete? All meals, breakfest, lunch, dinner. Nothing fancy, just good food, somewhat healthy? How about a few beers/rums on the beach, with a bathroom to use? I know prices can vary greatly and will start very high for a tourist.

I am with my two kids (9 and 14) in Cabarete at the moment. Spending like US$100 to 150 per day for the three of us (no accommodation included).

$1000 to $1200 pesos a day would give you three decent meals a day and a couple beers.

Like you say it depends on a lot, I'd put between RD1,500 and 2,500 to side if this was to be a daily routine, but that is my drinking and eating habits. I am positive you are much healthier than me and are not as easily pleased by the company of a beer and a babbling drunk new friend with the same idea.

@givado cold beer, babbling drunks, beautifull beaches and some cheap fish, chicken and bacon are what im after.

@cfa thanks for the info, great detail

@mido Are you staying in a hotel now? Are the hotels in the $30/night range decent?

It depends where you go, if you want a trendy place or if you eat at a comedor where the local people eat. You can get it down to under 100 pesos per plate

where exactly is the Vietnamese-Thai restaurant behind Janet's ? And do they serve Phở ?

It is just past Janet's back parking lot on the left side of the street to the beach. I don't recall Phở being on the menu.
(I have not had any Phở since I left California, where it was very good).

Or if you like Guiness Beer as do I, you could chew through the budget above by having 3 per day at O Shea's

let me fix it for you:
search some garbage cans, heat up whatever you find on a little beach fire made from whatever the oceans carried to the shore and you can eat like a king for free!
you are welcome ;)

dv8's personal opinion is that 3.000 pesos a day OP mentioned is going to sail him through his holiday a treat.

I enjoy a Guiness, but I've had few occasions where I've had a second pint anywhere where I pay over or around RD4-500 for a pint, which is the case and so I don't on principle (ok and finance). Makes the Stout taste bad when you're bent over the bar being shafted while drinking.

hahaha, Im not big on Guiness but Presidente is fine. I"ve read some of pi2 comments, maybe he'll only charge a buck to take me shopping and i'll stay for a extra 2 weeks! Lobster on the beach would be great, I'll make the fire and dv8 can catch the fish!

Walked down the street today while at Janet's - just to check it out. Viet Cafe. Are you sure it is still open? Looked pretty deserted.

about 3-5 $ day is about right. get a cheapo solar cooker and take it to some remote part of the beach.
